Andy Robertson has been ruled out of Liverpool’s clash with on Tuesday night.

The left-back started the Reds’ most recent game, last Tuesday’s humiliating loss at Napoli, but was seen at the club’s training ground over the weekend in a knee brace.

has now confirmed Liverpool fans’ worst fears, saying that the Scotland international will be out for the next few weeks.

In his pre-match press conference on Monday, the German manager said: ‘Robbo now is not 100 per cent. [He felt something] very late, 93rd or whatever minute – actually he felt it the next day only.

‘He is out until at least the international break.’

Robertson’s knee injury will also mean he will miss this Sunday’s big game at Chelsea, though that fixture may well be postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

While football is set to resume in the UK this week, ‘severe limitations on police resources’ in London have put all games in the capital under risk, as preparations for Her Majesty’s funeral continue.

Arsenal’s Europa League match with PSV on Thursday has already been called-off as a result, with a decision on which games can go ahead expected to be made soon.

Liverpool’s first match after the September internationals is currently slated to be against Brighton at Anfield, but with many fixtures already postponed the schedule is likely to be heavily altered.

As for the game against Ajax, Kostas Tsimikas will more than likely start in Robertson’s place, but it is yet another huge blow to Klopp’s squad that has been decimated by injuries since the start of the season.

Currently, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones and Caoimhin Kelleher are on the sidelines, but Fabio Carvalho is back from the dead leg he suffered in the Merseyside derby.
