A missing 4-year-old was found after he had disappeared near his family’s home for two days

A 4-year-old boy who had been missing in Montana for two days was found ‘hungry, thirsty’ but ‘in good spirits’ on Sunday, authorities said.

Ryker Webb disappeared around 3pm Friday afternoon while playing with his family’s dog in the Bull Lake area of the Kootenai National Forest near his family’s home.

He was reported missing near the mile marker 18 of state Highway 56, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. He was found Sunday afternoon about 2.4 miles away from were he went missing.

According to the sheriff’s office, the search mission included using helicopters and drones, but their efforts were hampered over the weekend by ‘very poor weather conditions which consisted of rain, low visibility and low ceiling.’

Search efforts also included dog teams, ATVs and a boat unit deployed on the lake. Montana Air National Guard helicopters searched for the boy from the sky. Dense vegetation also made the search for the little boy extremely difficult, the sheriff’s office said.

The young boy was in ‘good spirits and apparently healthy, although hungry, thirsty and cold,’ the sheriff’s department said in a statement.

Saturday night while he was lost temperatures dropped into the low 40s and a quarter inch of rain fell. On Sunday about 50 people showed up to search for him

The temperature fell into the low 40s in Missoula on Saturday, with a quarter inch of rain hitting the ground.

He was taken to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center for evaluation.
