star Vinicius Junior is considering his future at the club after saying Spain ‘belongs to racists’ following the vile abuse he took on Sunday.
The Brazilian was targeted by fans during Real Madrid’s trip to , with many making monkey gestures at the 22-year-old.
The winger pointed out a number of perpetrators to the referee and the game was paused shortly after half-time, but it was eventually restarted and no punishment was handed out.
Vinicius was sent off towards the end of the game after an altercation with a Valencia player but the game was completely overshadowed by the abuse the Brazilian took.
Speaking yesterday, the Brazil international said and that the league was unrecognisable from one that Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Lionel Messi played in.
It was far from the first time that Vinicius has taken abuse during his time in Spain and incidents of this nature have been on the rise for the last 18 months.
The Brazilian has been critical of La Liga’s handling of the abuse, as well as the lack of intervention from the authorities.
But the Athletic say Vinicius is equally aggrieved at the lack of support he’s received from the club itself, and feels Real Madrid have left him ‘alone’ to deal with the issue.
Asked if the winger was contemplating an exit from Spain, a source told the Athletic: ‘Yes. When you have to fight on your own…’.
It’s a clear indication that Vinicius feels let down by Madrid and that the club should have taken a stronger stance on the abuse he’s taken.
