English referee Mike Dean has reportedly announced that he will be retiring from football at the end of the 2021/22 season, according to The Telegraph.

The 53-year-old has been a Premier League official since 2000 and has been involved in over 600 games. Dean has been part of a lot of controversy over the years for his decision-making, especially in some big games.

Dean was initially supposed to retire last year, but postponed it for another year and will hang up his boots at the end of the season.

He is the only referee in the English Premier League history to show 100 red cards in the competition. Dean is likely to be followed into retirement by a string of high-profile Premier League officials over the next few years.

Andre Marriner, Martin Atkinson, Kevin Friend, Jon Moss and Graham Scott are all over the age of 50 and will be considering quitting in the not-so-distant future.
