Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has to improve the backline at Old Trafford and the name of Gonaco Inacio has been on the radar for some time.

A month back, The Mirror reported that the Red Devils are in prime position to hire the services of the Portuguese center half.

More recently, as per a story covered by A Bola, Man United are preparing an offer worth £38.4million (€45m – €40m upfront plus €5m in bonuses) to finally secure the 20-year-old starlet.

The news source have mentioned that the Sporting CP player has got a release clause of €45m in his contract and a fee of around €40m should be enough to get his signing done.

Ten Hag is trying to get rid of unwanted players at the club before reinforcing the squad and United are in a better position than their rivals to sign Inacio.

A Bola claim that Barca and Newcastle are interested in the youngster as well but Miguel Pinho, who trusts the management at Old Trafford having helped them sign Bruno Fernandes, is leading the negotiations for Inacio and that could help the 20-time English champions.

The talented starlet has already won major domestic prizes in Portugal with the Lions and he was part of the squad that ended the Liga Nos title drought after 19 years.

In the 2021-22 campaign, Inacio featured in 45 games in all competitions and helped Sporting CP keep 20 clean sheets.

He is yet to make his debut for the senior national side but with veterans like Pepe (39) and Fonte (38) expected to to retire soon, the youngster would get his chance.
