Liverpool will still be without Roberto Firmino for their trip to on Monday night, has confirmed, while Naby Keita is also still out through injury.
The Reds are in fine form, having won six matches on the spin and they have kept their chances of a late charge into the places alive.
Klopp’s side are fifth, a place and a point behind , and while the Red Devils have a game in hand, Liverpool are very much in the hunt for a top four spot.
They go to relegation-battling Leicester on Monday to try and keep up their excellent run of wins, but will do so without Firmino or Keita who remain out.
‘No, he is not in team training yet,’ Klopp said of Firmino who last played in the 6-1 win at Leeds last month. ‘Bobby was in training yesterday (Thursday) and he looks nearly there, but not for the weekend.
‘I feel now if he is in the session today I would be surprised, but he starts training, team-wise, after the Leicester game. Naby Keita, no.’
Both sidelined players will hope to play again before the end of the season as they are both leaving the club in the summer when their contracts expire.
Especially for Firmino, who has become a club hero during his time at Anfield, it would seem an underwhelming end to his Liverpool career to not get a proper farewell.
Klopp is expecting a stern test from Leicester on Monday, despite their lowly league position, he knows they still have quality and will surely be fighting hard for their Premier League lives.
‘They are now in a relegation battle and that is obvious,’ said Klopp of Dean Smith’s side. ‘We will have an analysis meeting after this press conference but I saw the Everton game and they have good spells, they are a footballing team but it is always like this when you are in a relegation battle you are not always the best version of yourselves. That is why it is so difficult.
‘We expect a team that wants to stay in the league. At the start of our week I said to the boys that this will be a real fight, we have to be ready because they then play Newcastle, which is not an easy game, so they need all the points they can get. I expect a super intense game and a fight against brilliant players.’
