Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is being linked with the coaching job of Brazil’s national team.

This is according to a report from Spanish media outfit Marca, on Thursday.

Current Brazil boss, Tite, recently disclosed he will be leaving his role following this year’s World Cup.

“’m going until the end of the World Cup,” Tite told SporTV. “I have no reason to lie here. I don’t want to win any way. I’ve won everything in my career, the only thing missing is the World Cup.”

Brazil are currently favourites to win the tournament in Qatar having impressed throughout qualifying.

And they’ve now identified Guardiola as the ideal candidate.

The Brazil federation are ready to throw everything at the former Barcelona gaffer and have already started talking to Pere Guardiola, Pep’s brother and representative.

They’re ready to offer Guardiola a four-year deal until the 2026 World Cup with a proposed salary of €12 million per year.

While that’s a substantial amount for a national side manager, it’s well below his current €20 million salary at Man City.

But Brazil have ‘great confidence’ they can persuade Guardiola to accept the role.

He has a contract at City that runs until 2023 so it remains to be seen whether he’d be willing to leave this summer or wait until next summer.

Guardiola previously admitted he was interested in managing a national side by saying: “The next step will be a national team, yes, if there’s a chance.

“I must have a break after seven years (at City), I need to stop to watch, learn from other players and maybe that is the road I will take. … I would like to coach at the Euros, a Copa America, a World Cup.”

And when asked specifically about this current Brazil side, Pep added: “It is a fantastic national team. Brazil is always a strong candidate or the favorite. It always was and it will always be.”
