Moses Simon will look to win his third title at club level when Nantes take on Nice in the final of the French Cup at the Stade de France on Saturday (today) night.

Simon played a key role in Nantes’ progress to the final, scoring the winning penalty in the semi-final victory against AS Monaco.

The Nigeria international won the Belgian Pro League title with KAA Gent in the 2014/15 season and clinched the Belgian Super Cup the following campaign.

Nantes, where the likes of Didier Deschamps and Marcel Desailly started their careers, last won the French Cup In year 2000.

A win for Simon and his teammates will see them qualify for Europe for the first time in two decades.

“We need to play down the significance of the occasion as much as possible,” said Nantes manager Antoine Kombouare this week as he tried to take the pressure off his team.

“This is a final, it’s an exceptional moment but what are we risking? We are safe in Ligue 1, and the best-case scenario is that we win and have a party.

“Otherwise we lose and move on.”
