technical director Edu has teased the prospect of further signings at the club this summer, insisting that the Gunners are ‘prepared for every situation’.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been one of the biggest spenders in world football for a second summer in a row, spending almost £120m so far in the off-season.

The Gunners sealed a £35m move for Oleksandr Zinchenko last week as Arteta moved quickly following Lisandro Martinez’s decision to join .

Though supporters are understandably pleased with the side’s transfer business, many still hope for the addition of another forward.

And, in encouraging words for supporters hoping for more additions, Edu says the club are prepared to move for players if the right opportunity arises.

‘I think we have to be prepared for every situation,’ Edu told SkySports.

‘We still feel the transfer window is open and the most important thing is to be prepared for everything, every scenario, because opportunities can happen.

‘Clubs can approach us, players probably want to go on loan, so there’s still lots to do, but again, being prepared for me is the most important [thing] and for sure we are very much prepared for almost everything.’

Arsenal’s failure to make the top four last term threatened to scupper Arteta’s plans in the transfer window.

However, both Gabriel Jesus and Zinchenko opted to join the Gunners despite having offers to move to Champions League clubs.

Asked if the club have been able to sign the players they wanted to despite failing to qualify for the Champions League, Edu says nearly every target has been obtained.

‘Yes, almost 100 per cent of them,’ said Edu.

‘I understand sometimes players want to play football, but I think we can offer something very special for the players as well.

‘It’s not only Champions League, but you can be part of a group of players which can achieve something very special for this football club. And then I always ask them if they want to be part of the project we’ve been building as we’re doing.

‘I’m sure we will do something very special for this football club and then when I explain to the players, they really understand [it] and that’s why they’re here.’
