Three ‘major clubs’ have already made contact with Arsenal and enquired about the possibility of them selling this summer.

The 22-year-old joined the Gunners in the summer of 2019 but was sent out on loan on three occasions before finally being given an opportunity in the first team at the start of the current season.

Saliba grabbed the chance with both hands and immediately established himself as a key component of Mikel Arteta’s young side that positioned themselves as genuine title contenders before he succumbed to injury.

The international hasn’t featured since he damaged his back against Sporting Lisbon back in March and his absence has coincided with Arsenal’s worst run of form this term.

A 3-0 defeat at home against Brighton last Sunday effectively ended any remaining hope of preventing Manchester City from defending their title, and Arsenal’s focus has immediately switched to strengthening their squad ahead of next season and rewarding their best players with new contracts.

Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli recently penned new deals, .

Saliba’s renewal, however, is unlikely to be as straightforward given he has just over 12 months remaining on his current contract.

According to , Europe’s elite are already circling and asking about the possibility of Arsenal cashing in, rather than risk losing one of their prize assets for nothing in 12 months’ time.

, however, report Arsenal are intent on holding a fresh round of talks with Saliba and are intent on getting him to renew his commitment to the club.

and are in advanced negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen over a €15millon transfer.

The experienced Switzerland international has enjoyed his best ever season at Arsenal, scoring seven goals and recording seven assists in all competitions having been deployed in a more advanced role by his manager.

Arteta, however, is planning a major overhaul of his midfield engine room and is intent on adding more physical presence and dynamism to his midfield.

To that end, Arsenal are set to make an opening offer for West Ham captain Declan Rice, while Arteta has also been given the green light to make a renewed effort to sign Brighton’s Moises Caicedo who was the subject of two club-record bids in January,
