The popular Nigerian gospel singer spoke about her career and what led her into gospel music.

Ada Ehi, a very popular Nigerian gospel singer, says gospel artistes usually get a lot of offers to work with brands but they are usually careful choosing the ones to work with because they are regarded as ‘ambassadors for Christ’.

She told Sunday Scoop, “I won’t say that Gospel artistes are rarely engaged by brands. I would rather say gospel artistes are very careful with the brands they work with, especially because we are ambassadors of Christ and His Church, so credibility is required of us. Hot and cold water cannot come from the same place.”

Recounting what led her into gospel music, she said, “I always say I know the power of music and I have seen firsthand its power to transform anyone. I know that music is a tool and I feel blessed to have the gift of music, which I am eternally grateful for. I chose to use my gift to bless, inspire and lift as many people as my sound can reach. Even if I was not called to be a ‘witness for Christ’, I would still have used my music to sing of his love and his life-giving Gospel, which gives abundant life and completely transforms anyone into the perfect image of Him.”

On the song that shocked her in terms of its acceptance, the Settled crooner said, “That would be Jesus (You are Able). That was probably the most beautiful and surprising spread to see.”

Asked about the challenges facing the gospel music industry, she said, “I see the music industry as one and the same, though same structures for distribution, publishing and other things. We have the same challenge (with secular artistes) of piracy and other issues.”
